Margate Soul Weekend
Margate Soul Weekend started with Eli Thompson of The Westcoast Bar and Venue & DJ Micky B (East Kent Soul Connection), who back in August 2002 at the Margate Carnival on Sunday decided to bring their mutual love for soul music to the masses.
They set up decks outside the forecourt of the bar on Fort Hill and played a mix of classic soul motown and rare grooves which was the start of something special for Margate.
Margate Soul Weekend happens annually and this year is set to happen over Friday 31st July until Sunday 2nd August 2015 across venues and open spaces across the Oldtown quarter of Margate, in Kent.
The line-up plays host to DJs, live acts, street parties and a whole heap more fun including Roy Ayers, Norman Jay, Joey Negro, Bob Jones and many more.
