For travellers flying in, Greater Manchester is the closest hub. Manchester Airport (MAN) lies about 20 minutes north of Altrincham, with frequent train and tram services linking the airport, Manchester city centre and Altrincham station. Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) is also an option roughly an hour away, with train connections via Warrington or Manchester. From Manchester Piccadilly or Deansgate, catch the Metrolink tram on the Altrincham line for a scenic 30-minute ride directly into Altrincham town. Alternatively, regular trains from Manchester also serve Altrincham. Coaches may run on event weekends, or local buses can be used from nearby towns.

By car, the showground is easy to reach via the region’s motorways. From the north or south take the M6 and M56 toward Manchester; from the west (Liverpool/St Helens area) take the M62 to the M60 ring road. Exit toward Altrincham and follow signs for Ashley Hall Showground on Ashley Road. (For context, St Helens to Altrincham is about a 50-minute drive.) Festival signposts and on-site parking (usually included with tickets for a small fee) will guide you on arrival. Roads around festival time can be busy, so allow extra travel time and consider car-sharing if possible.

The local area offers a range of places to stay. Altrincham and nearby villages like Hale, Bowdon and Timperley have charming B&Bs, pubs with rooms and guesthouses – book early, as accommodation fills up fast in summer. Manchester city centre is a short 25-minute train ride away, with many hotels and hostels if you prefer city comforts. The festival also partners with campers and glampers, offering on-site camping or glamping options for a true countryside experience.
