Atmosphere & Setting

Set in the picturesque Sandringham Estate, the open-air festival combines live music with historic parkland, woodlands, and gardens. The friendly, family-friendly environment encourages picnics, walks, and relaxation between sets, creating a memorable summer experience for all ages.

Sandringham Estate is easy to reach via air travel. The closest airport is Norwich (about 40–45 minutes by car), with flights from many UK cities and Europe. London’s Stansted, Luton and Heathrow airports are also options (2–3 hours drive to Sandringham); from any of these you can hire a car or take connecting trains toward Norfolk. (For example, trains from Stansted or Luton to Cambridge and onwards to King’s Lynn link up nicely.)

Rail connections: King’s Lynn is the closest train station (roughly 10–12 miles from Sandringham). Regular services run from London (via Cambridge and Ely) in about 2 hours, and from Cambridge itself. From Norwich or other Norfolk cities, you typically change trains at Ely or Cambridge to reach King’s Lynn. Once at King’s Lynn, you can catch the Lynx Coastliner 35 bus (King’s Lynn–Hunstanton service) which stops at Sandringham, or take a taxi for the 15–20 minute drive into the estate grounds. Buses are cheap and scenic, but a taxi may be easier for groups.

Coach travel is another option. On concert weekends, special coaches may run directly to Sandringham from cities like London, Cambridge or Norwich (often as part of the ticketing packages). Otherwise, coach services connect to King’s Lynn or nearby towns, where you can switch to a local bus or taxi for the short remaining journey. Local Stagecoach/Lynx buses around Hunstanton and King’s Lynn will get you close; just plan for a quick walk or taxi ride from the drop-off point.

Driving: Follow the A roads into West Norfolk and set your satnav for postcode PE35 6AB. From the west (Cambridge/London) use the A11/A14 toward King’s Lynn, then take the A148 north to Sandringham. From Norwich, follow the A47/A148 west. It is about a 2–2½ hour drive from London and 1–1½ hours from Norwich. For big events like this, temporary field parking is set up on the estate. Follow signs and steward directions to the concert car parks, then hop on a shuttle bus or walk a short distance to the arena. Try to arrive a bit early to avoid the heaviest traffic.

Accommodation: King’s Lynn (10–15 minutes by car) and Hunstanton (15–20 minutes by car) offer many hotels, inns and B&Bs for all budgets. Norwich and Cambridge are larger cities within 1–2 hours’ reach with extensive lodging options. Campers can use Sandringham Estate’s caravan/motorhome site on Coach Road or nearby campsites (book these well in advance). The festival often sells on-site glamping packages, too, allowing a weekend under canvas on the property. Whatever option you pick, book early -- August is peak season in Norfolk.
