Gloucester festival SportBeat is excited to announce Razorlight as the first headliner for their 2014 event. The London-based four-piece, led by enigmatic frontman Johnny Borrell shot to fame in the early 2000’s, becoming the darlings of magazines li

Their debut album ‘Up All Night’ reached number 3 in the charts when it was released in 2004, and they ended a successful campaign touring the record with a memorable performance at Live8 in Hyde Park the following year.

Their second, self-titled album came out in 2006 to much fanfare, and went straight in at the top of the charts. Single ‘America’, co-written by Johnny Borrell and the band’s then-drummer Andy Burrows was arguably the soundtrack to the summer, thanks to mass radio rotation, and was also #1 in the charts.

Razorlight have enjoyed tours with some of the biggest bands in the world, including The Rolling Stones, The Who, Oasis, and Queen featuring Paul Rodgers, thanks to their ability to entertain even the biggest crowds.

In 2007, they were nominated for two BRIT Awards, including Best British Band and Best British Album.

Their third album ‘Slipway Fires’ was released in 2008, debuting at #4 in the UK charts, and was their most introspective work to date.

The band took a hiatus in 2009 to work on solo projects, with Johnny Borrell eventually releasing his Borrell 1 solo album in 2013 and touring under the name Johnny Borrell and Zazou. But Razorlight are now reportedly back together and working on material for a new album. This summer will see them play their first shows since 2012, and their performance at SportBeat is surely one not to be missed!

Razorlight join previously announced acts including Reverend and the Makers, The Hoosiers, The Ordinary Boys, Lucy Spraggan, Matt Cardle, By The Rivers, The Struts, Menswe@r, Shy Nature, George Barnett and Isaiah Dreads.

Lots more bands including the Saturday headliner are still to be announced.
