The greatest show on snow is now on sale! The one and only Snowbombing – Europe’s original, biggest and best snow and music festival – is back with the ultimate sub-zero party
Celebrating its seventeenth incredible year, Snowbombing 2016 takes place 4-9 April in the beautiful chocolate-box Tyrolean town of Mayrhofen, Austria.
Nestled in a breath-taking alpine setting with snow-capped vistas to die for, Snowbombing boasts the most awe-inspiring festival venues in the world from a mountaintop igloo 6,000 feet above sea level to enchanted forest clearings, cosy alpine lodges and atmospheric medieval barns not to mention the plethora of bars, clubs, dives and speakeasys. Last year saw the reintroduction of the legendary Bruck N Stadl, a traditional Austrian wooden ‘haus’ equipped with an enormous Funktion-One sound-system that in its time has hosted the very cream of the house and techno scene from Eats Everything to Jackmaster to Heidis Jackathon.
In 2016 Snowbombing is set to raise the bar once again. Recent Snowbombing highlights include Skrillex’s multiple outings at last year’s festival from his massive set at the Racket Club to jumping on the decks with David Rodigan at Ram Jam and then smashing it at the Pool Party with Waze and Odyssey. In fact he liked it so much he changed his flight three times to stay out! Rudimental’s majestic headline set in the forest was another game-changer at Snowbombing 2015 and Basement Jaxx literally had the time of their lives at the Street Party!
In 2014 electro-punk originals The Prodigy tore up the rulebook with a devastating show in the middle of an ancient forest, while the year before Kasabian mesmerized the audience over a stunning sunset, 6000 feet up the mighty Ahorn mountain.
With all that in mind this year Snowbombing is promising to serve up the biggest bill to date as it blends upstarts and groundbreaking acts with iconic legends; it will definitely be a ‘don’t miss’ fixture in the 2016 festival calendar so watch this space.
