Uptown Festival - Blackheath Header

Mark your calendars for 26 July 2026, when Uptown Festival - Blackheath returns to London’s beautiful Blackheath Common. This lively, family-friendly festival offers a full day of music and entertainment beneath open summer skies. For one day in July, local families and visitors alike will gather on the green fields of Blackheath to celebrate music and community together. Spread across multiple stages, Uptown Festival blends live concerts with fun activities to create an inclusive atmosphere where generations can come together. Whether you're planning a big day out with young children or bringing the grandparents, Uptown Festival has something for everyone – a place where old favorites meet new discoveries.

Live music is at the heart of Uptown Festival, with talented bands and DJs performing classic hits from past decades. Get ready to dance and sing along to iconic songs and nostalgic anthems spanning the last five decades. Imagine the energy as one stage plays an ’80s pop anthem while another pulses to ’90s dance favorites – the soundtrack is feel-good, familiar, and full of memories. Each performer brings energy and showmanship so you can expect to clap, cheer and dance like it’s 1985 or 1995 all over again. With a mix of live bands and DJ sets representing different genres, the music keeps the crowd buzzing from the first tune to the sunset finale.

There are activities for everyone, especially kids. For example, you might be dancing to an '80s pop hit on one stage while watching your children laugh on a nearby carousel. A special Little Town family area is packed with stage shows, funfair rides and games for the youngest children. Little Town features kid-friendly takeovers and performances, plus craft workshops and interactive fun to keep little smiles going all day. Throughout the festival grounds you’ll also find tasty food and drink stalls to keep everyone refreshed. With friends and family all around, Uptown Festival has a friendly, picnic-party vibe: picture lounging on blankets with a cold drink, enjoying live tunes, and making happy memories. The open space of Blackheath Common gives plenty of room to spread out under the summer sun, creating a warm, community feel where adults and children alike can relax between acts.

In short, Uptown Festival – Blackheath is the ultimate day out for all ages. From kids to grandparents, everyone finds something to enjoy. Whether you plan to dance along to favorite anthems or watch your little ones giggle on the rides, the festival has you covered. Bring a picnic blanket and your favorite people, and get ready to make unforgettable summer memories together on Blackheath Common!

By train: The nearest stations are Lewisham and Blackheath, both a short walk from the event area. Southeastern trains run frequently from London Bridge, Cannon Street and Charing Cross to Blackheath Station (about a 10-minute walk) and to Lewisham Station (8–10 minutes on foot). Lewisham also connects to the DLR. From Lewisham or Greenwich DLR you can enjoy a short bus ride or walk to the common. If traveling by Underground, take the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich and then the No. 108 bus, which stops close by.

By bus: Several London bus routes serve the Blackheath area near Shooters Hill Road. The No. 108 (from Lewisham, Canary Wharf or Greenwich) stops right by Blackheath Common and is very convenient. Other routes include the 54 (to Woolwich/Elmers End) and 202 (to Lewisham/Crystal Palace); these have stops within a few minutes’ walk. Night buses such as the N53 and N89 also operate in the area. All London buses accept Oyster cards or contactless payment.

By car: Shooters Hill Road and Blackheath Common are accessible via the A2 or the South Circular (A205) from central London. If coming from the south, the A20/A202 are options, or the A102M via Greenwich. Keep in mind that parking near the site is extremely limited and many streets have restrictions. It’s best to park at a nearby train station car park (such as Lewisham) or use public parking and then take a short walk or bus. Expect heavy traffic on summer weekends, so allow extra travel time or consider car-sharing and arriving early.

From airports: London City Airport is the closest, about a 15-minute journey by public transport. Take the DLR and Jubilee Line or a taxi to reach Blackheath easily. Heathrow and Gatwick are further away (about 1–1.5 hours by train); you can travel via central London (for example, Heathrow Express/Elizabeth Line to Paddington then Tube+train, or Gatwick Express to Victoria and then Southeastern railway). Always check flight and rail schedules and plan extra time for connections.

Accommodation: If you plan to stay overnight, consider lodging in Greenwich, Blackheath village or nearby Canary Wharf for easy access. Greenwich and Blackheath have boutique hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses a short bus or train ride away. Canary Wharf and Lewisham offer larger hotels. Booking early is recommended on summer weekends. Many festival-goers choose hotels near Lewisham or London Bridge stations, which provide fast train connections to Blackheath Common.
