Get ready to step back into the vibrant world of 1960s music and fashion at Mods Mayday 2026! Held on Sunday, May 3rd 2026 in the heart of London's West End, this all-day festival celebrates the iconic mod culture with live music, dancing, and retro style. The event takes over the famous 229 Great Portland Street venue in W1 (right by Great Portland Street tube station), transforming the area into a lively mod showcase. Whether you're a longtime mod fan or just discovering this energetic subculture, Mods Mayday offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Music is at the core of Mods Mayday. The festival's stages feature the full spectrum of mod-inspired sounds: from gritty 60s R&B and soul to upbeat ska, rocksteady and punk-tinged mod revival. Headline performances from veteran mod bands share the bill with up-and-coming groups carrying the torch of the genre. High-energy live sets keep the crowd dancing, while DJs spin rare tracks (think Northern Soul, Motown hits, Two-Tone and garage rock) to keep the vibe going between acts. You'll hear vintage hits and modern anthems alike that capture the swinging spirit of the era.

But Mods Mayday is more than just music. Within the venue's multiple rooms, you'll find a packed programme of activities. In one area, iconic mod personalities might join for informal Q&A sessions and podcasts, sharing stories about the scene's history. In another space, classic mod films and documentaries play for those who love the story behind the style. A bustling shopping zone – dubbed 'Our Favourite Shop' – offers exclusive band merchandise, vinyl records and vintage clothing stalls so you can pick up a sharp new suit, a retro dress or some rare memorabilia.

Outside, a festival-style street area adds to the atmosphere. There's an outdoor bar and dancefloor where DJs keep the tunes spinning. On a sunny London day, you can relax with a drink between sets or boogie under the open sky. Many attendees get into character by dressing head-to-toe in mod fashion – tailored parkas, slim-fit suits, mini-skirts, Ossie Clark dresses and even vintage scooters are all part of the fun. The entire venue buzzes with friendly energy as fans mingle, dance and celebrate together.

Above all, Mods Mayday is about community. It's a welcoming gathering where fans of all ages and backgrounds share their love for crisp suits, soul music and nostalgic beats. If you've ever longed to experience the heyday of the mod revival firsthand – or just enjoy great live music and dancing – Mods Mayday is a day not to be missed. Join fellow aficionados in celebrating one of Britain's most stylish music movements. The festival's lively mix of music, fashion and friendship promises an unforgettable day out in London.

London, England's capital, is easy to reach by air and rail. Five major airports surround the city – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City – and each has quick connections into central London. For example, Heathrow offers the Piccadilly Line (Tube) or the Heathrow Express train; Gatwick has its own express trains to Victoria Station; Stansted has the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street; and Luton is connected by regular trains to St Pancras. London City Airport links via the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). If you arrive by train, all of London's main stations (Waterloo, Paddington, King's Cross St. Pancras, Euston, Victoria, Liverpool Street, etc.) tie into the Tube and bus networks.

Once in London, public transport will be your best friend. W1 is in Zone 1 of the Travelcard network (central London). The closest Tube stop to the Mods Mayday venue is Great Portland Street (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines), right outside the door. Nearby Underground stations (a short walk away) include Regent's Park (Bakerloo line) and Oxford Circus (Victoria, Bakerloo, Central lines). Many bus routes also serve the area via Oxford Street and Marylebone Road. To get around, you can use an Oyster card or tap a contactless payment device on trains and buses. Central London has congestion zones and limited parking, so driving is not recommended; however, plenty of black cabs and ride-share services are available. The area offers a wide range of accommodations – from budget hostels and B&Bs to boutique and luxury hotels – so visitors should book early for the best options.
