London, England's capital, is easy to reach by air and rail. Five major airports surround the city – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City – and each has quick connections into central London. For example, Heathrow offers the Piccadilly Line (Tube) or the Heathrow Express train; Gatwick has its own express trains to Victoria Station; Stansted has the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street; and Luton is connected by regular trains to St Pancras. London City Airport links via the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). If you arrive by train, all of London's main stations (Waterloo, Paddington, King's Cross St. Pancras, Euston, Victoria, Liverpool Street, etc.) tie into the Tube and bus networks.
Once in London, public transport will be your best friend. W1 is in Zone 1 of the Travelcard network (central London). The closest Tube stop to the Mods Mayday venue is Great Portland Street (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines), right outside the door. Nearby Underground stations (a short walk away) include Regent's Park (Bakerloo line) and Oxford Circus (Victoria, Bakerloo, Central lines). Many bus routes also serve the area via Oxford Street and Marylebone Road. To get around, you can use an Oyster card or tap a contactless payment device on trains and buses. Central London has congestion zones and limited parking, so driving is not recommended; however, plenty of black cabs and ride-share services are available. The area offers a wide range of accommodations – from budget hostels and B&Bs to boutique and luxury hotels – so visitors should book early for the best options.
