Folk on the Pier 2026

Folk on the Pier returns to The Pavilion Theatre at the end of Cromer Pier, Norfolk, from 8 to 10 May 2026. This three-day folk festival offers live music in a unique seaside setting on the historic Victorian pier.

Music

The festival showcases traditional Celtic folk, contemporary folk-rock and Americana, featuring headline acts alongside emerging singer-songwriters and local artists. The Pavilion’s intimate stage brings you close to the music with the North Sea waves adding to the atmosphere.

Atmosphere

Set on a century-old pier with stunning 360-degree sea views, Folk on the Pier combines coastal charm with warm community spirit. Fringe concerts and spontaneous folk sessions take place throughout Cromer, creating a lively and welcoming environment.

Local Attractions

Cromer adds extra appeal with its famous seafood, including fresh crab and fish and chips. Visitors can also enjoy family-friendly attractions like the lifeboat museum and sea walks, as well as live music in local pubs and bars after the main performances.

Cromer’s Pavilion Theatre is located on the town’s Victorian pier (address: The Pavilion Theatre, The Pier, Cromer, NR27 9HE). Despite its peaceful seaside setting, Cromer is well connected. The town sits at the northern end of the A149 coastal road, about 25 miles north of Norwich. Below are some tips for reaching Cromer and the festival venues.

The nearest railway station is Cromer (Holt Road, postcode NR27 9EB) on the Bittern Line between Norwich and Sheringham. Regular trains between Norwich and Sheringham stop at Cromer, with the journey from Norwich taking around one hour. The station is a short walk from the pier. Local buses also serve Cromer - Sanders Coaches and Stagecoach run routes that link Norwich, Sheringham and King’s Lynn with Cromer. The town’s bus interchange (on Prince of Wales Road by the seafront) makes it easy to connect to local buses or find a taxi.

By car, Cromer can be reached via the A140 northbound (taking the A148) from Norwich or via the A149 coast road from King’s Lynn. On GPS, search for “NR27 9HE” or “Cromer Pier” to find the Pier. Parking near the pier is limited and fills up quickly on busy weekends, so arriving early is recommended. Cromer has public car parks on Cadogan Road and Prince of Wales Road, both a short walk from the pier. If these are full, additional parking is available slightly further inland.

By air, the nearest airport is Norwich International (NWI), about a 30-minute drive away. Norwich has flights from major UK airports, and from there you can rent a car or take public transport to Cromer (for example, a train from Norwich to Cromer). London airports (Stansted, Heathrow, etc.) are farther (roughly 4 hours by car); travelers often take a coach or train to Norwich and then continue north. National Express coaches run to Norwich and King’s Lynn, with onward connections to Cromer.

Accommodation: Cromer offers a wide range of lodging. Seafront hotels along the promenade and cosy B&Bs in town are close to the pier and shops. Many guesthouses and guest-only inns line the High Street. Festival visitors should book early, as rooms tend to fill rapidly for event weekends. There are also campsites and holiday parks in the surrounding area for a more outdoorsy stay. Wherever you choose to stay, Cromer’s compact nature means the theatre and town centre are usually just a short walk or quick drive away.
