Experience a weekend of music, dance and community joy at Ely Folk Festival, held from July 10th to 12th, 2026. Located on the spacious grounds of Ely City Football Club's Outdoor Centre on Downham Road, just a short walk from the cathedral city's historic centre, this three-day summer event offers a warm, friendly atmosphere for visitors of all ages. Whether you are a lifelong folk music lover or just discovering the genre, the festival welcomes you to enjoy Ely's beautiful countryside while tapping your feet to live tunes and meeting fellow folk enthusiasts from near and far.
The festival features multiple outdoor stages showcasing an eclectic lineup of artists. Expect everything from lively ceilidh bands and traditional folk ensembles to contemporary singer-songwriters and roots-rock groups. Throughout each day, talented musicians fill the air with soulful vocals, fiddles, flutes and more. In between sets, browse the festival's craft stalls for handmade keepsakes or instruments to remember the occasion. Bands headline the main stage each night, but don’t miss the smaller side stages or impromptu music circles—they often spark heartfelt jam sessions and shared singalongs that are festival highlights.
Beyond the music, the festival offers a full programme of family-friendly activities and local flavour. Children can enjoy free creative workshops, face painting, storytelling, and games while grown-ups learn to swing in lively ceilidh dance sessions or watch colourful Morris dancing. With the scent of delicious food drifting through the air, vendors provide everything from wood-fired pizza and burgers to local delicacies. Raise a glass at the real ale tent or sip a local cider or gin, and mingle with artists and fellow fans. The friendly, communal vibe that Ely Folk Festival is known for shines through every performance.
For those who wish to soak in every moment, onsite camping is available. Tents, campervans and caravans are welcome in the well-marked camping field, keeping you right next to the music. As night falls, gather around campfires with friends for impromptu singalongs or join late-night ceilidh dances under the stars. Though the festival feels like a picturesque rural retreat, it is only a mile from Ely's city centre. Take a break from the music to stroll the charming streets of Ely, admire the stunning medieval cathedral, or relax by the River Great Ouse before heading back to the festival party.
Run by passionate volunteers, Ely Folk Festival has a down-to-earth, welcoming spirit all its own. Friendly faces greet you at every turn and it will not be long before you make new friends under the summer sky. Gather your family or friends and come make memories at Ely Folk Festival 2026, a joyous celebration of song, storytelling and community in the heart of Cambridgeshire. We cannot wait to welcome you to Downham Road for a weekend that you will remember forever!
