Cambridge Rock Festival takes place at Stuntney Estate in Ely, Cambridgeshire (postcode CB7 5TR), right beside the Ben’s Yard retail village on Soham Road. The venue is about 15 miles north of Cambridge and just south of Ely city centre. Although the festival is set in a rural area, it’s well-signposted from nearby highways and easy to reach. Enter the postcode CB7 5TR into your satnav – the entrance is the same as Ben’s Yard. Festive signs will guide you directly to the event grounds.
By car, Ely is easy to reach via the main roads. From London or Cambridge, take the A10 north toward Ely, then turn onto Soham Road (A142) to Stuntney. From the west, use the A14 and exit toward Ely, then follow signs for Soham Road (A142). On festival days, clear signs will direct you to on-site parking areas. Parking is available at the venue, but spots can fill up quickly – consider carpooling or arriving early to ease any traffic on the A10/A142.
If you prefer public transport, head for Ely railway station. Regular trains run from Cambridge (about 15 minutes) and from London (around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on connections). From Ely station, it’s roughly a 20–30 minute walk to Stuntney Estate via the village of Stuntney (the path is fairly flat). Local taxis are also available outside the station for the short drive to the site. Some attendees take a Stagecoach bus from Cambridge to Ely and then change to a local bus for the final leg – just check schedules in advance since late-night service can be limited.
By air, the closest major airport is London Stansted, about 60 miles south of Ely. From Stansted you can rent a car or take the Stansted Express train to Cambridge, then connect by rail to Ely. Cambridge Airport handles a few regional flights (mostly charter/private), while Heathrow and Gatwick are about 2–2.5 hours away by road or train. Plan your journey so that you can reach Ely before dark – beyond the train station, options shrink late at night.
Accommodation options are plentiful. On-site camping tickets let you pitch a tent or park a campervan right at the festival (basic facilities like toilets and showers are provided). If you’d rather sleep indoors, book early in nearby Ely – the city has several cozy hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses. Cambridge (a short train ride away) also offers a wider range of hotels, though you’ll need to commute. Wherever you stay, arrange your last-night transport ahead of time, as taxis and buses in rural Ely may not run after the final encore.
