First Degree Burns

First Degree Burns are a UK eight-piece group associated with ska, hip-hop and reggae. Formed in 2001, they build a live sound they describe as “Ska-Hop”, combining skank-driven ska, live hip-hop and roots reggae.

Style and line-up

The band’s music features rapid raps, reggae vocals and a prominent brass and rhythm section. Their live setup includes trombone, clarinet, guitar, percussion, bass, DJ elements and saxophone, creating a large-stage sound aimed at dance-oriented audiences.

Releases and appearances

First Degree Burns release the album First and Foremost. Their music also appears as a key feature in an O’Neil winter snowboarding video and in a T-Mobile television advert.

Live activity

The group performs alongside acts including The Beat, Bad Manners and Zion Train. They remain an independent, unsigned band with a reputation for energetic festival and party sets.
