Akasha
Akasha is a duo from Brixton, England, active from 1994. The group consists of Charlie Casey, Damian Hand and DJ Hand, and is associated with acid jazz, chillout and downtempo, with a Bristol UK electro/trip-hop connection.
Career
The duo debuts in early 1995 with the EP Jazadelica, released on Wall of Sound Records. That release brings the group wider attention and leads to an appearance at Glastonbury Festival in 1995. For live performances, Akasha appears as a nine-piece band featuring additional musicians.
Releases
In 1998, Akasha releases two remix EPs. The following year, Cinematique is released as the group’s first full-length album. The project is known for a style that sits between jazz, electronic music and trip-hop, and for recording several varied EPs for Wall of Sound.
