Union announce Dizzee Rascal to play Brixton Acade

One of the biggest club brands of 2011, Union, have just announced there biggest event to date at Brixton Academy with Dizzee Rascal taking to the stage!

In 2011 UNION have taken their place as one of the UK’s biggest club brands and have gained a ferociously loyal worldwide following along the way.  They now run their own club nights in eleven cities in the UK and beyond and after five years at the world famous fabric, numerous tours, festivals and accolades later, UNION have stepped up once again. This time its to host their biggest event to date as a part of London’s Fresher’s Festival 2011 on Thursday 6th October.

The venue is none other than the legendary O2 Brixton Academy and the very special guest is none other than the undisputed King of the UK music scene Dizzee Rascal. This explosive night is set to redefine the possibilities of club shows and launch UNION even further into the stratosphere.

Dizzee has been at the forefront of the music world since the release of his debut album ‘Boy in da Corner’, which won the 2003 Mercury Prize. Since then he has gone onto score five no.1 hits in ‘Dance wiv Me’, ‘Bonkers’, ‘Holiday’, ‘Dirtee Disco’ and ‘Shout’ and release a platinum selling album. Dizzee is now one of the most in demand acts on the planet. A sensational performer who’s sometimes controversial but always entertaining style, makes him the perfect headliner for UNION at O2 Academy Brixton.

Dizzee’s UK flavour has successfully travelled to all four corners of the globe, resulting in him gaining a huge fan base along the way. Pronounced as one of the best rappers in the world, whilst his collaborations with artists as diverse as Arctic Monkeys and Fatboy Slim demonstrate Dizzee’s vision and musical genius. Citing influences which range from old skool hip hop to jungle and heavy metal, Dizzee embodies an artist with a unique talent, whose pioneering approach has guaranteed his longevity.

Supporting Dizzee will of course be Union who have emerged as one of the UK’s biggest breakthrough artists in the past year. Their meteoric rise to DJ superstardom has led to an incredible summer with storming performances at Amnesia, Space and Ibiza Rocks and at many of Europe’s leading festivals including Creamfields, Exit, Big Chill as well as hosting main stages at South West Four, Bloc and Global Gathering.

UNION are at the forefront of a new generation of artists that refuse to be restricted by genre.  They represent bass driven electronic music in all its unique forms which currently dominate dancefloors and airwaves across the globe, from dubstep to electro, to glitch and techno.

"This is going to be an incredible moment for us, we’ve been lucky enough to play the main stage at Brixton Academy four times but doing our own UNION show there with our absolute hero will be beyond belief!” Union
