StreetFest 2012

We are excited to announce London’s number one urban culture festival, STREETFEST is back, and after last year’s road block jamoboree, the space will be much bigger!

This year’s StreetFest takes place on Sunday 6th May 2012, doubling it’s capacity to 5,000 with an additional warehouse and a third music stage added to the show!

The annual entertainment event, which supports urban culture in the UK, will see a menagerie of gratti artists, urban athletes and emerging music talent descend onto Shoreditch's Hearn Street Carpark for a day of fun, expression and creativity for all friends and family to enjoy.

StreetFest has established itself as a credible platform for new breakthorugh artists to showcase their budding talent, previous years have seen Professor Green, Maverick Sabre, Mr Hudson, Ghost Poet & Wretch 32 grace the StreetFest stage, each going onto chart topping success. As purveyors of homegrown artistry, StreetFest is about bringing together a collective of emerging underground talent, including painters, poets, designers, musicians, writers, illustrators, dancers, skaters and riders all under one roof, giving visitors a chance to see what the UK’s next big things has to offer!

First up, we are proud to announce this year’s assemblage of rising stars; AlunaGeorge, R&B-infused electronic duo Aluna Francis and George Reid, London’s newest act to watch, Aluna’s hushed soulful vocals added over Georges’ futuristic productions make a great combination of emotional charged electro melodies. Piff Gang are on that wavy tip, championed by the likes of SBTV and Shortee Blitz (Kiss FM), Pi Gang supported Mac Miller & Maybach Music's Stalley on their recent European tours. With songs inspired by East Coast Rap and G Funk, their chopped & screwed vibes mixed with UK flavour and influenced by Grime & UKG, the ten-man crew kick raps over samples, synths and raw drums. A mixture of banging and mellow beats, these MCs create music that brings soul & swagger back into the UK.

Its Nate, the new kid on the block is fast becoming one of the most promising underground Hip Hop acts in the UK, receiving critical acclaim for his debut mixtape released late 2011, 'Never Ask Take Everything' received radio love from Giles Peterson (BBC Radio One) & Radio 6. The 23 year old North Londoner has an eclectic range of influences including Slum Village, Jay-Z, Kano and J.Dilla - all of which are reflected in Its Nate's music.

We are hyped to have Urban Nerds back again doing what they do best...dropping the latest fattest dirtiest bassiest tunes on the scene. With Rattus Rattus on the decks we know it’s gonna be pizzy! Martelo, best known as part of the YoYo family, consistently blows the roof o any party. The International Tour DJ for Santigold since 2007, as recommended by Diplo, Martelo has played festivals all over the planet from LA to Japan to Australia and right back to England again...so expect a fusion of big international tunes!

Thristian BPM, co-founder of the renowned Boiler Room, has become a recognisable name on the DJ scene carving out a reputation as discovering the newest sickest tunes out there! Remedy, is a collective of like-minded individuals whose purpose is to focus on building the UK live music scene through spoken word, they will be hosting a programme of live performances.

keep an eye out for a very special guest headlining soon, also more art, dance and sport to be announced.
