United Fruit

United Fruit are a rock group from Glasgow, Scotland, active since 2008. The band forms around four founding members and develops a sound built from guitars, bass and drums, with an emphasis on discordant but melodic song structures.

Style and influences

Their music sits in the area of post-punk, noise rock and post-hardcore. The band is associated with the rawness and experimental edge of acts such as Shellac, Fugazi, Mudhoney and Sonic Youth, and is also linked with heavier and more unusual independent rock acts including Oxes, 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Daughters, These Arms Are Snakes, That Fucking Tank, Deerhoof, Caribou, Ligament and Trail Of Dead.

Releases and reception

The debut EP, Mistress, Reptile Mistress!, receives strong reviews and helps establish the band in the press. Their debut album, Fault Lines, is issued by the band themselves in 2011. Their material also receives radio play from stations across Europe, including BBC Radio One.

Live activity

United Fruit tour as support for a number of other bands, including Maps & Atlases, Die Die Die!, Future Of The Left, Monotonix and Desalvo. They also appear at festivals such as GoNorth, Wickerman and Rockness.
