Southern

Southern are a brother-and-sister duo from Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 2011. The act is associated with a mixture of blues, alternative rock, pop and folk-bluegrass, and is listed with post-rock, instrumental, folk, Irish and Southern rock tags.

Releases and label

Southern are signed to Marathon Artists. They release their self-titled debut EP, Southern, in 2013. Their single Where the Wild Are premieres on BBC Radio 1, on Phil and Alice’s show. Another single, Cool Kid, appears with the B-side Sympathise With You.

Recognition and touring

The duo gain radio support from BBC Radio Ulster’s Gerry Anderson, who describes them as “the most promising singer/songwriters in Ireland today.” They spend a year touring with Bastille and Jack Bugg.
