Garage Flower came to be in 2000 in Nokia, but became in fact active in the fall of that year in Helsinki. The band settled on its current line-up when Mimmi took over on the drums and Jukka switched on the guitar. Garage Flower's songs are written by Antti and Kimmo. Both are hopeless pop-culture addicts and their influences are wide-ranging. The music is a combination of trash-culture aesthetics: one hit wonders, new wave singles and other weird 80s stuff, punk, power-pop, 70s hard rock and 60s harmony pop as well as more "arty" genres such as post-punk, all kids of indie and some alternative country. However, we try to go beyond our influences and cook up a strange little mess all of our own. Talking about honesty and authenticity concerning pop-music is problematic, because it will be associated with conservative, credible down-to-earth sort of stuff... So what the hell! Flock of Seagulls and The Cars rock and The Beach Boys rule: Mike Love not War! In the end it's only rock 'n' roll: Melodies, middle eights and minor 7ths - distortion and desperation. Don't worry if this might sound confusing. Luckily Garage Flower has the experience needed to create something resembling originality out of this god-awful mess. This can be verified by people who have witnessed the band live (mostly around Helsinki, Finland.) There also exists various recordings spreading the message: three official demos/EPs: Raw Flower (2002), Sensing a Touch of Love (2004) and The Green Light (2005) and four weird and wonderful Christmas singles! The first one was unnamed (2002), the second was called Garage Flower Loves You for Christmas (2003), the third More Christmas Hits (2004) and the fourth Christmas Party! (2005) Now that our new record is completed, the new website is up and running and we have been practicing like crazy for months to achieve our trademark "epic" live sound, we are on the lookout for new gigs and opportunities to get heard all over Finland, and indeed, the whole wide world!
