The Balloons and Beats festival in Birkenhead Park, promising an 'unforgettable weekend of fun and music', was abruptly cancelled just days before it was scheduled to begin. Ticket holders were left disappointed and without an explanation for the sudden cancellation.
Wirral festival cancelled and tickets pulled days before event
A hot air balloon festival offering an 'unforgettable weekend of fun and music' has been cancelled. Balloons and Beats has taken place in various locations across the UK but failed to provide hot air balloons in several instances due to the weather.
The festival was announced in February for a number of towns and cities including Manchester's Fallowfield (June 27 - 28), Nottingham (May 16 - 28), Wrexham (June 6 - 8), and Chepstow (September 13 - 14). An event for Birkenhead Park was later announced for September 20 - 21.
- Tickets were made available on TicketTailor with a Saturday adult pass (16+) costing £22 and a Saturday child's pass (three - 15) costing £15.
Today, a spokesperson for Wirral Council has confirmed to the ECHO the event 'is not going ahead' without an explanation why. The ECHO has tried to contact Balloons and Beats and Event Nation for a response.
In April, ticket holders for the Nottingham festival were upset to learn the event changed location from Wollaton Park to a space 25 miles away in Thoresby Park. The dates were also rescheduled from May 16 - 18 to June 13-15 without an explanation.
- After customers took to Balloons and Beats' Facebook page to share their upset, organisers declined to speak publicly about the changes and asked people to check their messages privately.
