British Sea Power Play Galtres Festival

Galtres Festival

The Forest of Galtres plays host, once again to this gorgeous independent festival in north Yorkshire, which began seven years ago at the back of a pub.

Galtres Festival hosts over a hundred bands spread across five stages, top & tailed by British Sea Power and The Levellers playing their Levelling The Land album in full. Comedy rock legend and festival favourite John Otway features in the line-up too, as does former Seahorses frontman, Chris Helme
New in 2011 is a comedy club, with the ArtsBarge Cabaret, dozens of workshops and activities for families and children and within the festival is the Yorkshire beer and cider festival with more than 100 different varieties - from Ampleforth Abbey Cider to Black Sheep Ale.
Galtres is a festival with admirable environmental and conservation policies and this year, tying in with International Year of the Forest, there will be wood / forest themed activities around the site as well as tree planting after the festival.
This is one ‘boutique’ festival that continues to pride itself as among the greenest, run by volunteers and raising money for local charities, it appears to have found the perfect balance featuring major headliners and making room for local artists
