Hollywood costume designer Heidi Howell, known for her work on major films such as Green Book and Django Unchained, is bringing her expertise to the annual Jane Austen Festival in Bath, Somerset.
Workshops and Tips
Howell, along with make-up artist Katelyn Simkins, will be hosting workshops at the 11-day festival, teaching attendees how to craft period-appropriate looks for the various balls and functions at the event.
Attendees of the festival can learn how to trim bonnets and create floral headbands to fully embrace the regency fashion of Jane Austen's era.
Heritage and Tradition
Ms. Howell, originally from Texas, expressed her excitement at the opportunity to share the British tradition of costume craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.
She emphasized the importance of giving attendees the full 'Hollywood treatment' with assistance in hair, make-up, and ensuring their costumes look authentic.
The Art of Adornment
The 'Art of Adornment' studio by the Jane Austen Museum will also offer various experiences including regency-inspired hair artistry, beauty rituals of the era, wardrobe preparation, and styling.
Growing Festival
