Green Man Festival opens with new sustainable stages
Having sold out in under 60 minutes before any lineup was revealed, making it the only UK festival other than Glastonbury to do so, Green Man Festival's gates opened today to reveal three new stages.
Wales' largest independent music festival, the 25,000-capacity event has seen the unveiling of a revamped Einstein's Garden science and sustainability area featuring three new stages.
The new solar-powered Pandemonium stage and hydrogen-powered Alchemy and Whimsy stages are to feature a programme of content covering science, wellness, sustainability, and other key societal issues.
Among the acts to perform at the event in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park are Wet Leg, CMAT, Underworld, TV On The Radio, Kneecap, and Cymande.
One of only three remaining large independent festivals in the UK, Green Man injects £28 million into the Welsh economy, and is the only large UK festival where a woman has controlling ownership. The owner of the Green Man Festival since 2006, Fiona Stewart was recognized at last year's Access All Areas Awards for her significant contribution to the festival industry.
Green Man Festival has been awarded a Gold Charter by event accessibility charity Attitude is Everything. Since the event's charitable arm the Green Man Trust was established in 2014, it has supported more than 12,000 people, with £2.1 million raised.
