Investigation Underway After Assault at Music Festival

An investigation is underway after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted at a music festival. The incident happened during last weekend’s Lakefest Festival held at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Ledbury, around 30 miles from the Welsh border.

Details of the Assault

The assault took place on Saturday night near the main stage area where police say a man in his 30s lifted up a 17-year-old girl's skirt and sexually assaulted her. A West Mercia Police appeal, which has also been shared by Dyfed-Powys Police, says the suspect is a white male who is around 5ft 7ins tall, with brown hair, a beard and a moustache, who was wearing a green shirt and black trousers.

  • Lakefest Festival is a popular event which bills itself as “the UK’s fastest growing family festival”.
  • The festival was held over the end of last week and across the weekend (August 6 to August 10) and boasted acts including Busted, Groove Armada, Faithless and Echo & The Bunnymen.
  • A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers investigating a sexual assault at Lakefest Festival in Ledbury are appealing for information.

Police Appeal for Information

“On Saturday (August 9), between 10pm and 10.30pm, a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in the main stage area. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident or about anyone who matches this description. If you think you might have also been a victim to a similar incident at Lakefest, please get in contact with police. Officers are here to help.

It is thought some people who attended the festival might be from outside of our force area, so officers ask for this appeal to be shared with anyone who you know was at the event over the weekend.
