Brighton’s Big Screen will be bringing the atmosphere of the London opening celebrations to the south coast on Friday the 27th of July from 7pm, when they host the official launch party on Brighton & Hove Seafront.

Visitors and residents of Brighton & Hove are invited to attend the FREE launch party to help celebrate the opening of Brighton’s Big Screen and the flame igniting the cauldron and signalling the start of the Games. Live music and entertainment will get the celebrations started from 7pm with the opening ceremony, which will be watched by an estimated worldwide audience of four billion commencing at 9pm.

A public area, holding up to 2,600 people, will offer a grandstand view of the curtains coming up on the competition in the capital. Live footage will be broadcast on the 100 square ft LED screen, which will be located next to the West Pier and opposite the Metropole Hotel.

Sports fans will be able to cheer on their favourite athletes from the beautiful setting of Brighton and Hove Beach. The audience will also be able to enjoy watching the £27m opening ceremony extravaganza in comfort, by taking advantage of the fully licensed all weather bar with seating and covered areas available.

Following the launch party, Brighton’s Big Screen will continue to broadcast live coverage of the games plus a selection of blockbuster films from the 27th of July to the 12th of August, from 10am to 10pm daily.
