First names revealed for Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2020

Festival Crowd Header

We've been bursting to share the exciting news of the first names on our 2020 line up and now we can!

We're over the moon to have finally secured the Shrewsbury debut of Galician piper Carlos Núñez - he's been on the wishlist of many festivalgoers for a long time.

We are also hosting exclusive performances from The Lost Words:Spell Songs  with Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Seckou Keita, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter, Jim Molyneux and illustrator Jackie Morris and the Welsh super group Pendevig - Shrewsbury is the only UK festival where you will see these two shows in 2020.

A few other gems in our first swathe of bookings include The Ballads of Child Migration featuring Boo Hewerdine, Katriona Gilmore, Chris While, Julie Matthews, Jez Lowe, Andy Cutting and narrated by John Leonard; a welcome return for Canada's Juno award winners Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (another band our visitors have been requesting); the first Shrewsbury outing for the new four-piece line up of festival favourites Show of Hands and much, much more
