Proms perfection at Castle Concerts

One of the highlights of the summer in Medway, the Castle Proms will provide the grand finale to this year’s Castle Concerts, on Saturday, 16 July at Rochester Castle.

The Royal Philharmonic Proms Orchestra will return to perform a selection of classical favourites, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

Highlights of this year's programme will include Tchaikovsky's thundering 1812 Overture, the ever-popular Nessun Dorma, and excerpts from Bizet's passionate opera Carmen.

The evening will climax with a stunning finale of all the traditional Last Night of the Proms flag-waving favourites for the audience to join in with, including the Sailor’s Hornpipe, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.

The orchestra will also be joined on stage by the acclaimed voices of the 80-strong Hertfordshire Chorus.  Guest soloist this year are soprano Jo Appleby who has toured worldwide with opera band Amici Forever, and tenor Jonathon Ansell, who shot to fame with pop opera group G4 on The X Factor. Described as "The Justin Timberlake of Pop Opera" Jonathan continues to sell out theatres all over the UK as a solo star, including London's Royal Albert Hall, Elgar Room.  He has played the lead role in Carl Rosa's The Mikado, dueted with Hayley Westenra on the nationwide Valentines' Tour and also in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.

So pack up a picnic and take your friends and family along for an unforgettable experience in the unique setting of Rochester castle.
