Texas to open Thursday nights at Epsom Live

Epsom Live! is back for the summer of 2011, and the first act to play as part of Epsom’s line-up is the Scottish rock phenomenon, Texas.

The world-class group will perform on Thursday 30th June following racing to kick start the first of five music nights, which continue to run every Thursday throughout July at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Lead singer, Sharleen Spiteri, will front performances of hit singles including; I Don’t Want a Lover and When We Are Together from their UK number one albums, White On Blonde and The Hush.  Epsom Live! could not be started in a more spectacular fashion, as Texas’s rock anthems sound across the Surrey Downs.

Despite enjoying most of their success in the 80’s and 90’s, the band is now preparing for the release of their greatest hits album later in the year and commented: “We’re thrilled to be playing at Epsom Downs Racecourse in the summer.  There’s always a brilliant crowd at these gigs and we have a great day out too!”

Rupert Trevelyan, Managing Director for Epsom Downs Racecourse commented: “I am delighted to confirm that Texas will be the first act to perform live next year as part of our Epsom Live! series. Texas is a chart-topping band with an international fanbase and we hope that both music and racing lovers will flock to Epsom, for what we consider to be our most diverse and best line-up of performers.
