Tyneside Americana Blues Festival 2026

Join the Tyneside Americana Blues Festival from 23rd to 25th January 2026 at the King Street Social Club in North Shields, Northumberland. This three-day event showcases blues, country, folk, and Americana music in a historic venue.

Music

Experience live performances across multiple stages featuring legendary and emerging artists playing Delta blues, swamp rock, melodic folk, and rootsy acoustic sets. Expect powerful blues bands, slide guitar solos, and soulful singer-songwriters, with possible surprise jams from local legends.

Atmosphere

The festival takes place in the intimate, restored King Street Social Club, offering a friendly and welcoming setting. Enjoy hearty pub food, local ales, and a warm community vibe that feels like a musical family reunion.

Public transport: The King Street Social Club is easily reachable by public transit. The Tyne & Wear Metro (Yellow Line) runs directly to North Shields station, which is just a short walk from the venue. If you arrive by train, get off at Newcastle Central then transfer to the Metro or a local bus to continue to North Shields. Stagecoach buses and other local services stop nearby (for example, at Northumberland Square), connecting North Shields with Newcastle, Tynemouth, Whitley Bay and beyond. Using public transportation means you'll avoid parking hassles and can relax with a pint on the way!

By car: Drivers can reach King Street Social Club via the A1058 (Coast Road) from the Tyne Tunnel and Newcastle, or via the A19 from the north. Parking around King Street is limited, and the club’s own lot fills up on busy nights. If you drive, we recommend arriving early or carpooling. There are a few pay-and-display car parks and on-street spaces within walking distance if needed. Taxis and ride-share vehicles are also readily available for drop-offs at the venue.

By air: Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is about 15 miles from North Shields. From the airport, take the Metro (Yellow Line) directly to North Shields station – the journey takes roughly 45 minutes, followed by a short walk to King Street. Taxis and rental cars are available at the airport, which can cut driving time to around 30 minutes. International visitors may fly via London or Manchester and connect by train or Metro to reach the North East.

Accommodation: North Shields and nearby Tynemouth offer a variety of lodging options, including cozy B&Bs and familiar hotels — booking early is advised around festival weekends. A short Metro ride to Newcastle’s city centre opens up many more choices from budget to boutique. Whether you prefer a seaside inn or a city hotel, there’s something for every budget. With convenient public transport links, you can easily stay in town and relax, or explore the beautiful Northumberland coast before heading to the festival each day.
