Knockengorroch World Ceilidh is an annual world music and dance festival celebrated in the heart of southwest Scotland. Each spring for several days, the rolling hills of rural Carsphairn come alive with lively ceilidh dancing, folk tunes and rhythms from around the globe. Under open skies and starry nights, musicians and dancers gather to swap tunes, spin reels and share stories – keeping ancient traditions vibrant with fresh energy.
The atmosphere is laid-back and communal: open-air stages pulse with fiddle reels, drum circles and even reggae or African grooves alongside traditional Celtic sets. Visitors pitch tents or sleep in campervans by day and dance under the stars by night, sharing local foods, crafts and stories around campfires. With something for all ages – from children's workshops to all-night session tents – the World Ceilidh feels like a big family gathering where music is the heart of the party.
