Mucky Weekender 2026
Mucky Weekender returns to Winchester, Hampshire from 10th to 12th September 2026. Set on 28 acres of private countryside just north of the city, this three-day music and arts festival offers an intimate and vibrant early-autumn experience.
Music & Entertainment
The festival features four stages, including one tucked away in woodland, showcasing a range of genres from reggae and dub to indie rock, drum ’n’ bass, and folk. Well-known bands perform alongside emerging artists and DJs. By night, enjoy fire performers, LED installations, and illuminated skyline shows that light up the site.
Art & Community
Mucky Weekender offers a full sensory experience with street artists and circus performers such as jugglers, fire-eaters, and stilt-walkers. The 2026 theme, Circus of Wonders, invites attendees to dress up and celebrate creativity in a welcoming atmosphere.
Food & Drink
Festival-goers can enjoy wood-fired pizza, international street food, craft beer, and browse artisan stalls and craft markets scattered across the site.
Facilities & Camping
Tickets include camping with access to hot showers, toilets, and an on-site convenience store. Nearby villages and Winchester city offer hotels and guesthouses for those seeking alternative accommodation.
Getting to Winchester is straightforward by train, car or coach. Direct trains run frequently from London (Waterloo) to Winchester in about one hour, and there are also regular services from Southampton, Portsmouth and beyond. Arriving by train means you’ll come right into the city centre where you’ll find local buses and taxis to take you on to the festival site. National Express coaches link Winchester with major cities across the UK, and the city’s central bus station is just a short walk from the train station.
If you’re flying, the closest airport is Southampton (around 15 miles south). From there you can take a train or taxi to Winchester. London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are larger hubs; trains (with a change at Clapham Junction or London Waterloo, depending on the route) can bring you to Winchester in about 2-3 hours, or you can combine coach and train services. Driving is another option: Winchester sits by the M3 motorway (approximately 65 miles from London). Follow signs to Winchester and then towards Sutton Scotney and Vicarage Farm for festival parking. The A34 from the Midlands also feeds into Winchester for those coming from the north.
Within Winchester, you will find plenty of local buses and taxis. The festival site at Vicarage Farm is roughly 5 miles north of the city centre by road. Festival organizers often provide directions or even shuttle buses to help guests reach the fields, but short taxi rides or local buses can also cover the distance quickly. If you drive, allow enough time on busy event days, and watch for parking signs and steward instructions once you arrive. Roads near rural venues can be narrow, so driving carefully is advised.
Accommodation options abound in the area. As mentioned, on-site camping (with showers and toilets) is included in your ticket, so many guests simply camp out at the festival. If you prefer indoor accommodation, consider booking early in Winchester or nearby. The historic city centre has hotels and B&Bs, and villages around like Sutton Scotney and North Waltham offer countryside inns and guesthouses (some near the M3 for easy access). These options tend to sell out on festival weekends, so reserve early. Windows and boots are recommended - pack layers and waterproofs just in case the weather turns. Once you’re there, everything you need is within easy reach from beautiful Winchester!
