Moseley Folk & Arts Festival, from 4–6 September 2026, is Birmingham's much-loved community weekend celebration. Each late-summer festival brings together fans of folk, indie and acoustic music for three days of live performances, workshops and community spirit. Held at the beautiful Moseley Park on Alcester Road, the festival is known for its welcoming atmosphere and eclectic lineup. Whether you are a dedicated music buff or just looking for a fun outing with friends, Moseley Folk & Arts offers an intimate and friendly vibe that keeps visitors coming back year after year.
Set in a lush, 11-acre woodland glade, the festival grounds are an idyllic oasis about two miles south of Birmingham's city centre. Gentle sloping lawns form a natural amphitheatre around a charming lake, creating a picture-perfect setting for outdoor stages. Tall trees and sunlit clearings make it feel like a world away from the city as evening falls and the stage lights shine on. The peaceful surroundings add to the festival's charm - you can relax on picnic blankets, dance under a canopy of stars, or stroll along the park's winding paths between acts.
The music itself covers a broad range of folk-inspired styles. Expect everything from lively trad folk tunes and soul-stirring acoustic singer-songwriters to upbeat indie sets and perhaps even a touch of world music or jazz. Festival-goers rave about the mix of national headline acts and talented local performers on offer. With multiple stages to explore, there is always something new to discover: one moment you might be dancing to a barn dance under the trees, the next swept away by a gentle ballad around an evening campfire.
But Moseley Folk & Arts isn't just about music. The festival embraces creativity and community in all forms. You can browse artisan stalls selling handmade crafts, clothing and jewelry, or grab a freshly made snack from one of the local food vendors. There are also workshops like dance lessons, instrument demos and drumming circles, with plenty of family-friendly fun. Kids especially love it here: in fact, children under 12 usually enter free with a paying adult. Face-painting, puppet shows and interactive storytelling often pop up, making the festival a great day out for every age.
And of course, the food and drink scene is a festival highlight. You will find an array of tasty choices - veggie curries, gourmet burgers, pizza and even vegan and gluten-free treats - sold from outdoor stalls throughout the park. Cool down with ice cream or churros as the sun beats down, or sip a locally brewed ale or crisp cider under the trees. Freshly roasted coffee and warm pastries in the morning help wake things up before the music starts again.
The overall vibe is warm and welcoming - many people describe the festival like a big family reunion with music. Guests often note how the mix of ages and backgrounds creates a genuine sense of community, from friends dancing on the lawn to grandparents swaying to the music. Moseley Folk & Arts is often considered an idyllic festival - a hidden gem on the UK's music scene. Because it is non-camping, all the fun can go on late into the evening, and you can head straight back to a cosy bed in a nearby hotel at night.
Join us for Moseley Folk & Arts Festival in September 2026! Whether you come for the music, the community vibe, or a family day out, it is sure to be an uplifting experience. Expect friendly faces, sing-alongs with new friends, and maybe even a few surprises. Moseley Park is about 2 miles south of Birmingham city centre, along Alcester Road. The festival site is near the heart of Moseley Village, a vibrant neighbourhood full of shops and cafes. Because the park is so close to town, visitors have many travel options for getting here.
Public transport is very convenient. Plenty of buses run from Birmingham city centre to Moseley. You can catch the 35 or 50 bus from outside Moor Street station or on Digbeth High Street, and either one will drop you on Alcester Road within a short walk of the park entrance. The trip takes about 10–15 minutes from the city centre, and buses run frequently throughout the day and evening on weekends.
By train, Moseley is most easily reached via Birmingham's main stations. Arriving at New Street or Moor Street station (which have frequent services from London, Manchester, Edinburgh and beyond) gives you quick access to a taxi or a connecting bus to Moseley. For example, Moor Street station is only a few bus stops or a short taxi ride from the festival site. If you arrive by long-distance coach (for example, National Express or Megabus), you will likely arrive at Digbeth Coach Station or Birmingham International; from there, a local bus or a quick taxi can take you straight to Moseley Park.
By car, Moseley is reachable via the A38 or A435. From the south, take the M42 to Junction 3 and follow the A435 (Alcester Road) towards Birmingham; from the north or west, take the M6 and follow the A38(M) through the city, then head south towards Moseley. Once on Alcester Road, look for signs to Moseley Village or Moseley Park. Parking near the park is very limited, as the surrounding streets are residential. Many drivers choose to park a little farther out (in nearby Kings Heath or other Moseley suburbs) and then catch a local bus or a short taxi ride to the site. Also note that central Birmingham has a Clean Air Zone: if you drive through the city centre, check if a charge applies for your vehicle.
By air, Birmingham Airport (BHX) is the closest major airport (about 10 miles east of the city). From there, you can take a train to Birmingham New Street or Moor Street station, then transfer to a local bus or taxi to Moseley. East Midlands Airport and London airports have train or coach links into Birmingham city centre, from where you can continue your journey by local transport. For convenience, most festival visitors fly into Birmingham Airport and make the short onward trip to Moseley.
