Live on the Wye Festival

Live on the Wye is a vibrant two-day community music festival held each summer on the Redbrook AFC sports field in the Wye Valley, Monmouthshire. With the Forest of Dean as its backdrop, the event offers a picturesque, family-friendly weekend of music, food, and fun.

The 2026 edition takes place on June 5–6, bringing together local and regional bands alongside craft stalls, food vendors, and children’s activities. Proceeds support the Redbrook Village Trust, funding projects that benefit the village and surrounding community.

Music and Culture

The festival focuses on music, art, and local culture. Each year it showcases around 14 original and emerging artists from Wales and beyond, spanning genres from acoustic folk and country to indie rock and roots. With multiple stages and performances running from midday until late evening, there’s something for every music fan.

Beyond the music, visitors can browse an arts-and-crafts market featuring local makers, sample regional specialties at food stalls (think gourmet burgers, vegetarian curries, wood-fired pizzas, and homemade cakes), and enjoy locally brewed ales, ciders, and craft beers. A relaxed Friday-night fringe event—often free entry—sets the tone before Saturday’s full programme.

Family-Friendly Fun

Live on the Wye goes out of its way to welcome younger visitors. All children under 16 enter free, while a £5 “Imaginarium” ticket grants access to a supervised kids’ tent filled with activities such as drumming workshops, circus skills, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, and face-painting. Parents can relax knowing the environment is safe, inclusive, and volunteer-run.

The site operates under a no-glass, no-driving policy, and even well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome—just remember to clean up after them.

Camping and Accommodation

For the full experience, many festival-goers camp on-site. In 2024, two-night tent camping cost just £15 per person, letting guests wake up only steps away from the music.

For those preferring a bed, the Bell Inn in Redbrook offers B&B rooms. Just across the river, Monmouth (3 miles east) provides additional guesthouses and hotels, such as Inglewood House B&B with views over the valley. As accommodation is limited, booking early is advised.

Getting to Redbrook

By Road

Redbrook is accessed via the A466 (the Chepstow–Monmouth road). The festival site is roughly 3 miles south of Monmouth and 13 miles north of Chepstow, with event parking usually provided on site.

By Bus

Public buses run through Redbrook several times a day. Route 69 links Monmouth and Chepstow, passing through Tintern and Redbrook.

By Train

The nearest train stations are Chepstow (on the Cardiff–Gloucester line) and Abergavenny (on the Welsh Marches line). From either station, visitors can take a taxi or bus to Redbrook.

By Air

Bristol Airport (~60 miles) and Cardiff Airport (~80 miles) are the closest international hubs, both requiring a car or public transit connection for the final leg of the journey.

Accommodation

The village itself has limited lodging options, such as the historic Bell Inn pub, which offers B&B rooms. Larger nearby towns like Monmouth (3 miles away) and Chepstow (15 miles) have a wider selection of hotels, inns, and self-catering cottages. On-site tent camping is often available for festival ticket holders as well. With accommodations limited in this rural area, booking well in advance is advised to secure a place to stay.
