Yeti

Yeti are a British rock group from the United Kingdom, fronted by bass player John Hassall, who is formerly of The Libertines. The line-up also includes Brendan Kersey, Andrew Deian-Jung, Harmony Williams and Graham Blacow. Hassall meets Kersey, Deian-Jung and Williams through mutual friends, and Blacow joins later on drums.

Style and songwriting

The band plays acoustic rock with a bluesy undertone and strong harmonies. Their sound draws on folk, psychedelic rock and rockabilly as well as rock more broadly. Hassall writes most of the songs, while Williams also writes several tracks and sings lead on his own material. Their influences include The La’s, Bob Dylan and The Beatles.

Career

Yeti’s highest-profile achievement is opening for Oasis. Their debut single, Never Lose Your Sense of Wonder, reaches number 36 in the UK charts. The group continues as a side project associated with Hassall’s work after The Libertines.
