Tom Trago
Tom Trago is an Amsterdam-based electronic music producer and DJ, born in 1983. He works across house, deep house, disco and related electronic styles, and is associated with Rush Hour as one of its prominent producers.
DJ work and radio
Trago begins as a local Amsterdam DJ, then starts playing abroad, holding residencies and making underground radio shows to support new music. He also presents the Voyage Direct Radio show on Red Light Radio. His residencies include venues in Amsterdam such as Jimmy Woo, Melkweg and Paradiso.
Production, remixes and releases
He debuts as a producer in 2006 with the single Live with the BBQ, which gains cult status. He goes on to remix artists including Franz Ferdinand, Laidback Luke and Philippe Zdar, with remixes issued on labels such as Kindred Spirits, Magnetron, Philpot and Rush Hour. His own music is also remixed by Aardvarck, Actress and Motor City Drum Ensemble among others.
In 2009 he releases Voyage Direct, an eight-track EP focused on disco and house. The Voyage Direct series later becomes a Rush Hour sublabel, releasing records by Awanto 3, Dexter and Legowelt. He also plans a first full-length solo album titled Iris, which features collaborations with Tyree Cooper, Oliver Daysoul, Ommas Keith and Romanthony.
Collaborations and projects
Trago founds 08Bar in 2005 as a music platform intended to encourage talent and new productions. From this network come collaborations including Alfabet and Yuro Trago, and he works with other artists both locally and internationally. His listed member projects include Alfabet, T & T Music Factory and Parra Soundsystem. With Parra, he releases the edit compilations Edith Niaf and The Von Small Hausen edits.
He also holds residencies with Parra Soundsystem in Bern and Paris, at venues including Club Bonsoir, Wasserwerk, Le Paris Paris and Regine. He performs in cities including Berlin, London, Los Angeles and Sydney, and he is invited to conduct with the Kindred Spirits Ensemble during Amsterdam Dance Event.
