Tides of Virtue

Tides of Virtue is a metalcore group from Lansing, United States. The band forms in 2008 and is active from that point onward. Its sound is described as combining fast, aggressive riffs, breakdowns and harmonised metal sections, with influence from the Gothenburg style of melodic death metal.

Line-up and sound

The group’s instrumentation includes guitars from James Otero, Paul Lawford and Jake Mead, drums from Elliot Philpot, and vocals from Louis Thurgood. The band is also associated with Damon Tate. Its music is tagged across deathcore, metalcore, hardcore, melodic death metal and death metal, though metalcore is the clearest genre label attached to it.

After forming, Tides of Virtue records a four-track self-titled debut EP at Studio 6 in Swindon with Stuart Mackay, who is identified as having previously played in Eternal Lord. The EP is available through the band’s shows and online merchandise outlet.
