the vatersay boys

The Vatersay Boys are a five-piece Gaelic dance music and ceilidh band from Vatersay in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. They play music associated with the Celtic and Gaidhealtachd tradition, using accordion, pipes, whistles and guitar in a high-energy style. Their line-up is fronted by Michael Campbell of Vatersay on accordion and Donnie MacNeil of Barra on drums.

The group comes from Vatersay, the most southerly populated island in the Outer Hebrides, with a small resident population. They build a reputation across the Western Isles and further afield, and their live set is known for rough-edged ceilidh dancing music.

The Vatersay Boys are nominated for Best Live Band at the 2006 Scottish Traditional Music Awards. They also play sold-out shows at the Barrowlands in Glasgow and appear as a notable live act at festivals including Belladrum near Inverness and Loopallu in Ullapool.
