The Marratimes formed as four piece after a chance meeting in 2005 and were soon performing in and around Cumbria. Stephen Murphy on vocals and acoustic with Steve English on Lead Guitar and backing vox and Gerry Millar on Bass and Paul Can Can Cannel beating the skins. The first EP Whitehaven Blues was recorded as a soundtrack to the Whitehaven Maritim Festival; but with the additional players on board the first album 'Timing Is Everything' featuring a mix of live and studio tracks pointed them in the Americana Indie rock direction, and took them out over the UK. The three track single 'Maybe' was recorded at the legendary Riverside Studios in Glasgow with Duncan Caneron at the helm. The video for the single was made by Glaswegian Film Maker Jonathan Smith. The Marratimes are contemplative at present. (March 2009)
