The Good Natured
The Good Natured are a British electronic pop group from Berkshire. The act starts in 2008 and is centred on singer-songwriter Sarah McIntosh.
Line-up and name change
The group consists of Sarah McIntosh, her brother Hamish McIntosh on bass, and George Hinton on drums. In January 2014, the band changes its name to Lovestarrs.
Releases and sound
The Good Natured records an electropop sound with a gothic edge. Their EP Skeleton appears on Regal/Parlophone Records and includes the title track and “Wolves”. Both tracks are produced by Patrik Berger, who is known for his work with Robyn. “Skeleton” combines synthpop, a driving rhythm section and themes of emotional and physical exposure, while “Wolves” is a fast-paced dance track with intimate, dark imagery.
Earlier EPs include Be My Animal and Your Body Is A Machine, along with a cover of Sufjan Stevens’s “For the Widows in Paradise”, retitled “For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti”.
Reception and radio support
The band gains attention through music blogs, including a place among the ten most searched acts on Hypemachine in one period mentioned in the biography. It also receives support from Nick Grimshaw, Huw Stephens and Jo Whiley on Radio 1, as well as from XFM and 6 Music.
