The Glitch Mob
The Glitch Mob is an electronic group from Los Angeles, United States. It forms in 2006 and remains active. The group’s membership includes Kitty-D, Kraddy, Boreta, edIT and Ooah, and it is associated with drum and bass, electronic, electronica, glitch, IDM and industrial music.
Formation and line-up
The Glitch Mob begins as a three-piece made up of Ed Ma, Justin Boreta and Josh Mayer, known respectively as edIT, Boreta and OOah. It also includes Kraddy in its earlier four-piece line-up. The group develops in the Los Angeles bass-focused beat scene.
Live performance and development
The Glitch Mob gains attention through live performance, using laptops and MIDI controllers rather than a conventional band setup. Its stage shows include technology-based solo sections, which help it build an audience in Los Angeles and San Francisco before it tours more widely along the West Coast and at festivals around the world.
Recordings
The group’s debut album, Drink The Sea, reaches number five on the iTunes Electronic Chart and peaks at number 57 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart for college radio. The album also leads to a cover story in Electronic Musician.
