The Callous Daoboys
The Callous Daoboys are an experimental mathcore group from Alpharetta, United States, formed in 2016. Their sound is associated with mathcore, metalcore, post-hardcore and hardcore, and they describe themselves as a mathcore band.
Releases
The band begins with two EPs, My Dixie Wrecked and Animal Tetris, followed by the single The Great Multi-Stage Rocket Robbery. Their first full-length album, Die On Mars, is released in 2019 through Dark Trail Records, Acrobat Unstable and Pattern Recognition Records.
In 2022, they release the single A Brief Article Regarding Time Loops, then What is Delicious? Who Swarms? before the album Celebrity Therapist later that year. In 2023, they issue the single Waco Jesus and follow it with the three-track EP God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys, preceded by the singles Pushing the Pink Envelope and Designer Shroud of Turin.
Live appearances and attention
The Callous Daoboys perform at Mathcore Index Fest in 2018 and MIF2020. They are also featured in Alternative Press’ list of top 20 rising hardcore bands to hear, and appear in coverage from NPR, Metal Injection, Brooklyn Vegan, Exclaim and Heavy Blog Is Heavy. The band cites The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Korn, Slipknot and Linkin Park among its main influences.
Line-up
The group’s current members include Carson Pace on vocals, Daniel Hodsdon and Maddie Caffrey on guitar, Jackie Buckalew on bass guitar, Amber Christman on violin, Rich Castillo on saxophone, and Matthew Ryan on drums. Former members include Alex Jerral, Claire Darling, Adam Collins, Sam Williamson, Whitney Jordan and Abby Sherman.
