Team Me

Team Me is an indie pop band from Elverum, Norway, active since 2010. The group forms around songwriter Marius Drogsås Hagen, who brings together friends for its first performances. Its early line-up appears for the first time at the Urørtfinalen, a yearly competition for emerging Norwegian bands held by NRK Urørt on P3, where Team Me gives its concert debut in Trondheim in January 2010.

Early attention and first releases

At the Urørtfinalen, Team Me plays a 30-minute set alongside acts including Kvelertak, Blood Command and The Pink Robots. Although The Pink Robots wins and Kvelertak places second, Team Me gains attention through the finalist song “Fool”, which quickly gets radio play in Norway. In the following months, “Fool” and “Weathervanes and Chemicals” spread through music blogs internationally, while the band continues to perform in Norway, including at Øyafestivalen, Pstereo and Volumfestivalen in 2010.

The band signs to Propeller Recordings in 2011 and releases an EP later that year. From that release, “Dear Sister” receives playlisting in Norway, Europe, the UK and the US.

To the Treetops! and awards

Team Me’s debut studio album, To the Treetops!, is released in 2011 in Norway and reaches wider international release in 2012. The album wins the 2011 Spellemannprisen award for Best Pop Group of the Year. It also draws strong coverage in Norwegian media, where it is often described as one of the most notable debut albums by a Norwegian pop group.

Tours, festivals and later activity

After the album’s release, Team Me tours widely in Norway, Europe, the UK and the United States. The group supports The Wombats on tours in Norway, Europe and the UK, and plays festivals including The Great Escape in Brighton, Club NME in London, Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Øyafestivalen in Oslo, Iceland Airwaves, Berlin Independent Nights, Roskilde Festival, Latitude, Dour Festival, Paredes de Coura Festival and Haldern Pop Festival. It also performs at SXSW, after which NME highlights the band among the festival’s new acts. Team Me sells out a show at Rockefeller in Oslo and later plays a sold-out concert at Liquid Room in Tokyo.

Other notable recordings

“Me and the Mountain” appears in the trailer for Liberal Arts, a film by Josh Radnor. In 2014, Team Me releases “F is for Faker”, its first single since 2012. At that time the band is recording its second studio album in Elverum.
