SKATERS

SKATERS are a New York trio formed in 2012 and active since then. The group consists of Michael Ian Cummings, Joshua Hubbard and Noah Rubin, and is based in New York, United States. Their sound sits within garage rock and post-punk revival, with tags also placing them in indie rock, punk, indie, noise and southside 2013.

Formation and early work

The band forms after Michael Cummings and Noah Rubin spend a year trading demos between Los Angeles and London with guitarist Joshua Hubbard. Cummings and Rubin are linked with The Dead Trees and Adam Green, while Rubin is also associated with Little Joy. Hubbard is associated with The Paddingtons and Dirty Pretty Things. The three meet in Manhattan to record an EP in a loft, and remain based in the city.

Style and live line-up

SKATERS make a punk-influenced record that draws on obscure genres and cultures. They also perform as a live band with a rotating cast of young musicians and veterans from the Boston and New York City music scenes.
