Sidney Charles

Sidney Charles is a German electronic music artist associated with house, deep house, deep tech, afro house, bassline and dance, and also linked with tech house, minimal and electronic music. He is born Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans in Hamburg, Germany.

He discovers DJing at the age of 15, when he starts working with turntables. His early interests are hip hop, soul, funk, breakbeat and turntablism. He is then drawn to the higher tempo of house and techno, which becomes a major part of his musical direction.

His interest in dance music is tied to the wider culture around it, including the social energy and shared experience of club music. He describes himself less as a musician or percussionist and more as a collector of culture and experiences, with emphasis on the feeling and energy surrounding the music.
