Shikari Sound System
Shikari Sound System is the electronic alter-ego of the British band Enter Shikari. The group is based in St Albans, United Kingdom, and has been active since 2013. It develops from the band’s long-running interest in DJing, production and side projects, and marks a shift into live dance music.
Style and approach
The project draws on electronic music, dubstep, drum and bass and post-hardcore, alongside other dance tempos and electronic genres that have influenced Enter Shikari’s sound. Its live set combines reworked Enter Shikari material with classic remixes and new material, using live instruments, percussion and dub-plate techniques. The project is described as featuring live electronics and heavy basslines.
Background
Enter Shikari first reaches wider attention in 2006 and later records three UK chart top 5 albums. Shikari Sound System emerges from that wider work as a separate outlet for the band’s dance-focused material and remix work.
