September

September is the stage name of Swedish singer Petra Linnea Paula Marklund, born in Stockholm. She begins recording in studios at the age of 12 and later sings in a rock band at 17, where she gains a record deal. Her mother is Slovenian and has a musical background, while her father is a professor in space physics. September is associated with dance, pop and electronic music.

Career

Her first Swedish hit is La La La (Never Give It Up), which reaches number eight in Sweden in 2003. It is followed by We Can Do It, which also reaches the Swedish top ten. Her debut album is released in February 2004 and includes the single September All Over, which also reaches number eight.

After a period without releases, she returns with Satellites, the first single from her second album, In Orbit. That song becomes her biggest hit to date and reaches number 139 in the Swedish all-time best-performing singles chart. Other singles from the album include Looking For Love, Flowers on the grave and Cry For You, which becomes her biggest worldwide hit to date.

In Orbit

In Orbit is also released in Poland with new remixes and a DVD of music videos from the album. The album is well received there, reaches number ten for two weeks, and is certified gold after selling over 10,000 copies.

There are also other artists with the same name: a jazz rock band from Ljubljana, Slovenia, active from 1975 to 1979 and known for two LPs and the song Ostavi trag, which is sampled by Kendrick Lamar in DUCKWORTH.; and a 1990s emo band from San Jose, California, formed in September 1994, which records five songs, plays two shows, and later has all five tracks remastered and reissued as 4812 Alexandria.
