Mean Poppa Lean are a four-piece group active since 2007. They play a mix of funk, soul, R&B and rock, and present their music as an attempt to reshape those styles at the same time. The band is based in the UK.

They tour a live show built around a high-energy performance style and have played across venues around the country. Their music is compared in an unusual way with The Kooks, with the comparison framed as a contrast rather than a likeness. They also attract descriptions centred on their live reputation, with audience response presented as a major part of their identity.

The group works with a publishing setup involving Attagirls, a company formed by executives from Fairwood Publishing and Opal Management, as well as Bucks Music. They also have record labels and producers lined up, and aim to reach a wider audience with their funk-pop sound, choreographed dance moves and stage costumes.
