March

March is listed as a person from Golden. The name also refers to several bands, including an Orange County, California alternative rock group, an Indonesian metal band from Jakarta, and a Dutch/Belgian heavy rock quartet.

Orange County, California act

This version of March is a four-piece from Orange County, California, with Paul Schulte on vocals, Jay Baran on guitar, Scott Klatskin on drums and Paul Wizikowski on bass. The group sets out to restore a soul-leaning, honest form of rock and roll and builds a presence in the Orange County and Los Angeles music scene. Its sound is described as atmospheric and intelligent alternative rock, with comparisons made to A Perfect Circle, Stone Temple Pilots, U2, The Police, Smashing Pumpkins and Failure.

The band’s third release, EP3, appears in 2007. It is produced by the band and Chris Karns, whose credits include work with Rocco DeLuca & the Burden, Tyrone Wells and Deccatree, and it is mixed by Howie Weinberg, whose mastering and mixing credits include Nirvana, the Beastie Boys, Mars Volta and the White Stripes. March shares stages with acts including 30 Seconds to Mars, Head Automatica, Papa Roach, Augustana, Tantric, Cypress Hill, Onesidezero, Memento and the Revolution Smile. It also appears at South by Southwest in Austin and receives a nomination at the 2008 Orange County Music Awards.

Indonesia act

The Indonesian March is a Jakarta-based band that begins with the 2005 demo track Rise of The Imperfect. Its songs are described as abrasive and guitar-driven, with examples including Batas Nalar and Teori Konspirasi. The group goes through changes in its lineup and remains active on local gigs, festivals and parties. At one point the band includes Ryan and Lale on guitar, Erix on drums and Faddy on vocals, after Ryan returns from studying in Australia. Earlier in its history, the band plays a mid-2006 show that is described as an important step in its development.

Dutch/Belgian heavy rock quartet

March also names a Dutch/Belgian heavy rock quartet formed in 2013. The band starts as a trio before expanding to a four-piece. It draws influence from The Distillers, The Bronx and hard rock bands such as Motörhead. White Russian Records releases its first EP, In The Air, and later also releases Stay Put, which the band records after lead guitarist Erik Van Haaren joins Fleur Van Zuilen on vocals and guitar, Bram Bergs on bass and Thomas Frankhuijzen on drums.

The group tours the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and the UK, appears at Popronde 2017, and later plays summer festivals including Jera on Air, Brakrock and Punk Rock Holiday. It also appears on national radio 3FM and supports NOFX at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. In 2019, with Hermance van Dijk on lead guitar and Jeroen Meeus on bass, it releases Fear Of Roses as the first single from a second album and supports De Heideroosjes at the AB in Brussels.
