Kat Dahlia

Kat Dahlia is the stage name of Katriana Huguet, a Cuban-American singer and songwriter from Miami, United States. Born in 1990, she works in hip hop and Latin pop, and is also associated with pop and R&B.

Career

Dahlia is known for her sharp lyrics and aggressive flow. She finances an EP and a music video herself before coming to the attention of record executive Sylvia Rhone through A&R representative Amanda Berkowitz. In 2012, Rhone signs her to Vested In Culture (VIC), a newly launched label she sets up as a joint venture with Epic Records.

Her debut album is planned as the first release on VIC. Her first single and video for the label is “Gangsta”, a track MTV describes as full of forceful rapping. The video is shot in Miami, reflects difficulties from her earlier life, and is directed by Samantha Lecca. It premieres on Vevo on 5 March 2013. Dahlia also releases the songs “Gangsta”, “Money Party” and “Mirror” digitally on that date.

She is also selected as a BET “Music Matters” artist.
