John Mouse

John Mouse is a Cardiff-based Welsh indie rock musician associated with The Double Diamond Club. He first records and performs as JT Mouse before working under the John Mouse name as a solo act.

Releases

Under the JT Mouse name, he releases Sundrenched Torso / Superman and the Swingers EP, a four-track 10-inch issued on Boobytrap in September 2001. A LP titled Clusters follows on Complete Control Music in December 2001. Later, FF Vinyl issues It’s A "Universal" in March 2003. In November 2006, crocfinger label releases an untitled album, and singles also appear on crocfinger Records in spring 2010.

Reception and commentary

Clusters is described as bursting with originality. Bethan Elfyn of Radio 1 describes John Mouse as the Welsh Beck. Noel Gardner of NME and Plan B compares It’s A "Universal" to Daniel Johnston and Lou Barlow. Louis Patterson of Plan B and The Guardian says the music is strong enough to be given “a phone box, a cape,” and Huw Stephens of Radio 1 says he has released some great records.
