Ishmael Ensemble

Ishmael Ensemble is a Bristol-based British jazz group active since 2017 and led by saxophonist and producer Pete Cunningham. The act is associated with jazz and also works across electronic-influenced sounds, including nu jazz and experimental directions.

Recording and style

The group’s debut album, A State of Flow, appears in 2019. It brings together different jazz approaches and includes ambient passages, club-oriented percussion, looping grooves and psychedelic electronic textures. The follow-up record, Visions of Light, continues to blend jazz and electronic music more closely.
