Hospitality
Hospitality is a Brooklyn indie pop trio active from 2007, made up of Amber Papini on vocals and guitar, Brian Betancourt on bass and Nathan Michel on percussion. The group is signed to Merge Records and works within indie pop, with its music also associated with indie rock and twee.
Early releases
The band releases its first self-titled EP in 2008. That recording comes together after Hospitality meets Karl Blau at a show at the Cake Shop, where Blau hears the band soundcheck and asks to record them in exchange for Hospitality backing him at a later date. The EP draws favourable reviews and leads Stereogum to name the group one to watch.
Albums
Hospitality stays relatively quiet for a few years while the members work on side projects and Papini deals with a death in the family. The group then signs to Merge Records in 2011 and releases its first full-length album in 2012. Its second album, Trouble, follows in 2014.
